FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Quick answers, straight talk
Everything participants, families and referrers ask us most about NDIS funding, referrals and getting started with Able Options.
01 Getting Started
Who can access Able Options supports?
Our supports are available to NDIS participants across Tasmania's North and Northwest coast. Whether your plan is self-managed, plan-managed, or NDIA-managed, we can work with you to arrange supports that suit your goals.
How do I get started with Able Options?
Getting started is easy โ simply call us on 0402 544 401 or send us a message through our website. We'll arrange a friendly initial chat to understand your needs and explain how our supports can help you.
Do I need an NDIS plan before contacting you?
Not at all. You're welcome to get in touch even if you don't have a plan yet. We're happy to answer your questions and can point you in the right direction if you're still working through the NDIS planning process.
Which areas do you service?
We provide support services across the North and Northwest coast of Tasmania, including Devonport, Ulverstone, and Burnie. Get in touch to check if we service your local area.
02 NDIS Funding
How does payment work with my NDIS plan?
If you're NDIA-managed or plan-managed, we invoice your plan manager or the NDIA directly for the supports we deliver, so there's minimal paperwork for you. If you're self-managed, we'll provide invoices for you to claim through the NDIS portal.
What supports can my NDIS funding cover with Able Options?
Your NDIS funding with Able Options can cover a range of core supports, including Personal Care, Community Access, Transport, and Daily Living assistance. We'll work with you to tailor these supports to the goals in your plan.
Do you charge for an initial consultation?
No, our initial consultation is completely free with no obligation. It's simply a chance for us to get to know you, understand your needs, and explain how we can support you.
Can you help me prepare for my plan review?
Absolutely. We can meet with you ahead of your plan review to talk through what's working well, what supports you may need going forward, and help you feel confident and prepared going into your review with the NDIA.
03 Referrals
Who can make a referral?
Referrals can be made by participants themselves, family members, carers, plan managers, allied health professionals, or anyone else involved in a participant's care. We welcome referrals from anyone who thinks we may be able to help.
What happens after I submit a referral?
We'll be in touch promptly to arrange a friendly initial conversation, either with you or the person you've referred. From there, we'll discuss their needs and goals and work out how our supports can best fit into their NDIS plan.
What information should I include in a referral?
It's helpful to include the participant's name and contact details, a brief outline of their support needs and goals, and their NDIS plan details if available. Don't worry if you don't have everything โ we can fill in the gaps together.
04 Working With Us
How are your support workers screened and trained?
All our support workers undergo thorough screening, including NDIS Worker Screening Checks, police checks, and reference checks. They also complete ongoing training to ensure they provide safe, high-quality, person-centred support.
Can I choose or change my support worker?
Yes. We know how important it is to feel comfortable with the person supporting you, so we work hard to match you with a support worker who suits your needs and personality. If it's not the right fit, just let us know and we'll arrange a change.
How do I give feedback or raise a concern?
We genuinely welcome your feedback, positive or otherwise. You can speak with us directly by phone or email, and we'll listen and work with you to resolve any concerns. If you'd prefer, you can also contact the NDIS Commission directly.
